I feel like it was just yesterday that I was two months postpartum and getting behind the camera for the first time in months since having my baby girl. That day was the day that Julia and Mark said “I do.” Fast forward more than two and a half years, my little one is almost three, and Mark and Julia are expecting their first baby! This shoot was somewhat reminiscent of the first time I photographed them since this time around it had also been a couple of months since I had been behind the camera… this time as a result of a pandemic, though. This La Jolla maternity session was exactly what I needed to get me back into the swing of things.
We had scheduled their maternity session before everyone went into lockdown, but fortunately just a few days before our planned date, restrictions were lifted and I was legally allowed to participate in photoshoots again! We met at the beautiful Windansea beach in La Jolla on the most gorgeous, clear day. Racing against the tide before it engulfed the beach, and avoiding crowds and other beach-goers, I made sure to be very intentional when choosing locations for their shoot.
Julia and Mark are absolute naturals in front of the camera (they even modeled in this desert styled shoot!) and I am so grateful they asked me to document this special time in their lives. Congratulations to you both in welcoming your son in the next couple of months! I know you will be amazing parents.
