Amaterra Winery Wedding | Isabelle + Brett

Weddings

This Amaterra Winery wedding in Portland was hands down the rainiest wedding day I’ve ever photographed, but honestly, it made everything kind of magical.

The day started with a sweet ceremony at the church at the University of Portland, which was extra special because it’s where these two met. From there we headed back to Amaterra Winery for the reception… and the rain just kept coming. Because of the weather, we were mostly confined to a small covered area of the venue for portraits, but we made it work. Once the rain finally let up, we had a tiny 10-minute window to sneak out for some portraits, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole day. Between the epic fog, towering redwoods, and the late summer light (the sun doesn’t set there until after 9pm) it felt almost cinematic and totally worth the wait. They also had the cutest boba bar at the reception, which was a huge hit and such a fun personal touch.

This sweet couple rolled with everything the day threw at them, and it was a wedding that was truly unforgettable for me. Enjoy highlights from this Amaterra Winery Wedding!

Quick Tips for Wedding Planning:

1. Plan Your Timeline Around Light
Golden hour (1–2 hours before sunset) gives dreamy, flattering light — perfect for portraits

2. Do a First Look
It calms nerves, gives you more photos, and frees up time post-ceremony

3. Keep Your Getting-Ready Area Tidy
A clean, well-lit space makes for beautiful prep photos

4. Communicate Family Photo List Clearly
Provide a list and assign someone to help wrangle family — it keeps things efficient

5. Add Buffer Time
Everything takes longer than expected — build in extra time so you don’t feel rushed

6. Trust Your Photographer
Let them guide you with posing, lighting, and timing — it’s what they do best!
