[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n a dreary, wet Saturday morning, I began my two and a half hour drive to the desert for my first styled photoshoot – a desert sand dune elopement editorial. I had been planning for months, so nothing was stopping me from turning my vision into a reality! As I got closer to the epic sand dunes, the rain began to clear, and my anxieties began to disappear! We were left with damp sand and gray clouds, but it was still beautiful! It is not every day that I get to be in complete control of my photoshoots. Being able to curate my own romanticized desert fairytale is something I have always wanted to do! It’s so exciting to see my dream turn into a reality!

To make this styled shoot complete, I created a simple invitation suite from scratch. I also gathered some eclectic gold decor and tableware items to set up a sweetheart table in the middle of nowhere. (Side note: lugging a full table, two chairs, and a lot of decor and gear out into the dunes is no easy task!) The stunning model, Julia, was dressed in a beaded and tulle dress from BHLDN. I paired it with a fun bouquet from Native Poppy, full of neutrals and earthy tones, which looks perfect against the desert backdrop. Julia’s husband, Mark, wore light gray to keep with the soft, neutral color palette. Soft colors and neutrals are definitely my favorite – can you tell?

Although the sky was full of dark rain clouds, Mark and Julia brought such a glow with them! They are the sweetest couple – I had the honor of photographing their actual wedding last year, so getting back in front of my camera was a breeze for them!
