Lauren Fair’s California Coast Editorial – Sunset Cliffs, Ocean Beach
Two weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to attend Hybrid Co, an incredible conference for film and digital photographers of all different backgrounds and experience levels. When I saw that the conference was taking place in my home town of San Diego this year, I had to jump on the opportunity to attend. The Collective was founded by three amazing film photographers, two of which I have been admiring and idolizing for years. This group wanted to create an educational platform for film and hybrid (film + digital) photographers to learn from each other and support one another, and boy, am I glad they did. It was an incredible three days of presentations, classes, and styled shoots, surrounded by some of the absolute best in the industry.
The first styled shoot that I had the privilege of participating in was hosted by the one and only Lauren Fair. This stunning shoot was inspired by the ocean and California coastline, and took place in the beautiful Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach. I challenged myself to shoot at least 5 rolls of medium format film during this shoot, and ended up easily filling up 8 rolls. It has been incredibly difficult to narrow the photos down to a select collection of my favorites, but I hope you enjoy a peek at this incredible editorial!
All photos below were taken with a Mamiya 645 AFD medium format camera on Fuji 400H film (rated at 200) and scanned by the amazing PhotoVision film lab.
